Pixie Dust...

If it's Saturday...it must be PINK Saturday.
My favorite day of the week.
And wouldn't you know it...
I got caught up in all kinds of projects and didn't finish my pink plans for today.
So I will leave you with a few pink thoughts for your day and quickly send you on to other beautiful blogs.
But please check back next week as I am planing a pink party and my girls will be doing the pink baking on their blondes in the kitchen blog.

Before you go, please remember that on Pink Saturday, all you need is
"Faith, Trust and a little Pixie dust".

Thank you to Beverly from How Sweet the Sound for hosting another pink Saturday!

Black and White...

...with just a hint of color.
I'm talking about hand-colored photos...

one of my very favorite things.

I love the simplicity of black and white photos...
as well as the softness that a touch of color brings.
Nothing too bold...
I prefer the photos that are sepia or black and white with pastel coloring.
They have a certain vintage appeal...

I first discovered this years ago when a photographer took this photo
of my girls running on the beach...

and hand colored it.

I would love to learn to do this...
Just to be able to add a pop of color to a few photos now and then.
But how???
I recently heard that you can now do this digitally with photoshop.
Do any of you have photoshop and if so,
do you know if this can be done?

Here are a few more for you to see what I'm talking about...

Mom, this next one's for you since I know how much you LOVE flamingos. (hahaha)

I hope these make your Friday a bit more beautiful!

And They're Home...

I'm wondering how many people are aware that six astronauts were in space the past 2 weeks.
Maybe here in Florida we are a bit more aware only because of the location of Kennedy Space Center.

I'm pretty sure there were no breaking news reports on regular TV when they came home. We save those for celebrities who screw up and issue an apology we don't really want to hear anyway. (Sorry...just couldn't help that one:-)

I do think it is sad that there is not more coverage of the space shuttle unless there is a tragedy.
It is nothing short of a miracle that these 6 astronauts just traveled 5.7 million miles and installed a new space station room that will serve many purposes and has sweeping windows for those living on it to literally have a window to the world.

There are only 4 space shuttle flights left, which means I have 4 chances to take my girls over to see a launch.

Watching the space shuttle soar off into a clear sky is thrilling every single time.

What is also very cool is they way they announce that they're home.
Last night at about 10:10 p.m, our house shook with 2 sonic booms. I mean...they were LOUD!!! It was as if someone plowed into the house. We've heard it before but this time was spectacular and we knew it was those astronauts telling us they're coming home.

Why am I writing about this today when I have emails to answer and blogs to visit? Maybe because while I knew they were in space...I forgot about them. Like everyone else, I was curled up on my couch last night watching the Olympics, cheering for Bode Miller to win the men's skiing. (which he did...yay Bode!:-)
Until those two loud booms made me jump out of my skin.
Then I remembered...the space shuttle Endeavour was coming home tonight!

(In case you're wondering, a sonic boom is caused when the aircraft is traveling faster than the speed of sound and this is when they enter the earth's atmosphere.) Or something like that...can't believe I just gave a mini science lesson:-)
Anyway, their flight path took them over Central America, the edge of Cuba, the Gulf of Mexico and they entered Florida over the Naples area...

and let us know in a big way that they were going to be touching down in 10 minutes. Absolutely amazing!!!
So to our 6 astronauts...

Welcome home!!!!

How Did This Happen?????

How did you go from playing with toy keys...

and driving a Barbie Jeep...

to getting a drivers permit and using real keys and a real car???

This is the question I am asking myself as I prepare to take Taylor to get her learner's permit.
Now the fun begins...
we have to teach her to drive.

I took drivers training in the summer at my high school, with a parking lot driving center and a teacher who had his own brake on the passenger side of the car for when we went on the road.

Not so anymore...
In Florida, you take a 4 hour online safe drivers course, go to the DMV to take a vision and hearing test and you are good to go.

Mom and Dad get to teach you how to drive and we DO NOT have a brake on our side of the car:-)

We have one year to accomplish this. Should be interesting:-)

This is the car that Taylor wants...

So cute isn't it?
So small, too!!!

Here's another version...

at least everyone would know it is her.
(Hey Taylor, you wanted a mini cooper so...)

Now this is the car I want her to have...

A nice, shiny, Hummer!
She can even put a "Life is Good" tire cover on the back...

and tie a tiny pointe shoe to the mirror to customize it.
See...I'm reasonable!

I guess I could bend a little more and let her have a pink one...

or maybe she would like a purple Hummer. hee,hee

Actually, since she is my "green" child, maybe she would like this one...

Why can't she just be content to ride around in the backseat of my Mom Taxi forever...
I know...it's called growing up.
She's handling that just fine...
Me on the other hand...
I still have a lot of growing up to do:-)

Okay Taylor, if you must move on from the Barbie car, promise me you will at least use a Barbie key chain to remind you of your very first car:-)

Royalty...

Lately I've been obsessed with crowns.
Hmmm...
Maybe there's bit of royalty in me after all.
Jordie did give me this fabulous bracelet for Christmas.

She had it engraved with the words
"We can't all be the queen...
Somebody has to sit on the curb and wave as I go by."
Don't you love it?
Yes, I do love crowns...tiaras too!
(hello...shabby tiara anyone:-)

I've recently found a few pretty crowns and thought I would show them as part of White Wednesday.
Thank you to Faded Charm
for encouraging us to celebrate our love of all things white!

Here is a little collection, courtesy of Michael's.
These are my bargain crowns...ranging from .99~2.99...
Not bad, huh?
(Tray from ebay:-)

Up close and personal...

So cute for a bedside stand...rings, candies...

And that's it for today.
Hope your Wednesday is full of all things warm, WHITE and Wonderful!!!
